Reading at KGB Bar
Hear work from Sue Landers, Dan Meltz, and Victor Cervantes in this monthly reading series curated by Kathleen Warnock.
Drunken! Careening! Writers! is a reading series based on the proposition that readings should be by 1) good writers; 2) who read their work well; and 3) something in it makes people laugh (nervous laughter counts).
In this creative session, we will explore the epistolary form. Epistles have been popular for centuries as a means for poets to express everything from love to politics to apologies for having eaten the last plums in the fridge. Participants will read inspiring examples of the form from a cross-section of classic and contemporary poets—including Emily Dickinson, Major Jackson, Sonia Sanchez, Yolanda Wisher, and others.
This workshop is being offered as part of a program on women and poetry at Stenton Mansion, one of Philadelphia's best preserved house museums. Additional workshops will be led by Trapeta Mason and Yolanda Wisher.
Come write and share your work in this one-of-kind location!
Reception to follow. Space is limited. $10.
